COMING AROUND AGAIN

I was telling a friend of mine the other day that one day you realize the last time you held your baby was the last time you'd ever hold them.

That day came and went for me the first time, but never again, I decided would I let it slip through my fingers without  reflecting on it.

And then, I realized another thing.

That last time that you got to hold your baby really does come around again...when she has a little baby that is the exact spitting image apple not falling far from the tree kind of precious lump of sugar!

And what's even better than that?

Getting to spend a whole beautiful day hiking and picnicing with them both to celebrate the day one was born so the other one could be!

Happy Birthday Peep #1....I love you ever so!

And as usual...today I will tell you about the day you were born...for the 31st time!

FINALLY I CAN GET STARTED

with my new starter kit and recipe from bff and all time best bread baker in the whole wide world..make that the whole wide universe.

Y.U.M.M.Y.

and the trick is, unsalted butter to go with!

It seems that she has been using her yeast starter for 10 years.

TEN YEARS!

That alone is worth being on the share list.  And I am so glad she shared her starter with me and besides that she bought me a duck, a white duck at the Stationmaster's House Museum Rummage Sale.

I just love my friends!

FOLLY LA LA LA

Ecclesiastes 2:24

King Solomon had it right as he spent 12 chapters in the Old Testament trying to decide what was worthwhile in life.

He summed it up in one little tidy picnic basket...all is folly and we are like grass in the wind...here today gone tomorrow...so...

the best that I can do as I catapult ever closer to death is

eat, drink, and be merry
with all those I want to go on picnics with.

FLIRTING WITH FALL

Today, the morning brings a chilly end to the summer heat wave.  All summer, the temperatures have soared over 100 and there was little, very little rain.

I have been wishing for this day more than I usually do because I love summer

BUT....

I'm not sure when I began celebrating Fall's First Fire...but it's one of my favorite holidays that I made up myself.
Instructions for Fall's First Fire:

1.  have a cool crisp autumn day
2.  cook something yummy so the pot is brewing and smelling divine
3.  strike a match to a few of those damp logs that have been sitting against your fence since last winter
4.  Curl up with your loved one(s) and a glass of wine
5.  get lost in the warmth

pretend like you drive down this road to get to your cozy little house at the end of the street and if you roll down your window you can smell your pinon before you get home

and look forward to the next holiday that is just around the corner...yes that's right

zen rocks on your paper cat's head day...

I'M GETTING A NEW POOL

I'm not really getting a new  pool just yet, or for sure one that looks like this...but as I was browsing my sitemeter which is something I do while waiting for lunch with hubby, I came across the above search.

Someone from Melbourne, Australia put in the search words couch potato with beergut and MY PURA VIDA came up.

Booger.

BOOGER!

I better get to changing my Karma!

THE LUCKY ONE

OK...it's taken me the whole weekend to get over the fact that Wine Tower is

L.A.M.E.!

Why do I have to be on the wine tower karma bus?

First of all....we order it in February...it arrives, damaged in June, finally gets here in September and I find out

it doesn't keep my wine cold enough.

B.O.O.G.E.R.

From the time I was little, going to the show at the Lyric, buying a cup of ice for a dime and grapefruit lifesavers for fifteen cents, crunching them together to get that icy cold citrusy yummy summer time flavor, I have been on this path...replaced by

Kim Crawford
Brancott
Nobilo
Monkey Bay
Mulderbausch

citrus heaven..especially since now it can be intoxicating...but the above should be chilled between 43-48 degress and lame wine tower only goes to 52.

So...if I want my icy cold chilled selection to come out of the refrigerator with lovely delicate dew on the bottle, I have to keep mine in the beer fridge in the garage.

So glad I'm not a wine snob!
