GREEN THUMB

I do have a green thumb most of the time..kind of the type that likes to bring the summer plants in and nurse them through the winter just for a bit of life in the gray months.  This is an airplane plant that's thriving in the middle bath...a gift from bff.

My rescue poinsettia from last year

my money tree and orchid could look better

new growth on the palms

new growth here too

oh wait..this is fake

a sunny corner

haha...another fake

and a mix of fake and real..can you tell the difference?

so...if I can  pull all this off...

then how in the world does something like this happen?

GLASS GLASS GLASS

I have commented before that some women are addicted to chocolate and I am addicted to apothecary
I just love love love glass
new
or old
fine perfume bottles or bottles found in the backyard like this one in the background with a sweet bee on it
old cosmetic jars with silver lids
old grocery store jars for seashells
When I had the Bishop Cottage, I got in the habit of collecting hotel soap.  They are so pretty!
this jar holds all kinds of things from lavender to moss to vintage Christmas balls..whatever is in season
a man can never have too many white shirts and a woman can never have too many cloches
to fill, reflect and shine
I even use it to store simple things like flour and sugar and not sure what the empty one will hold yet
I don't bake cakes so I use my cake plate to hold other things like vintage silver and white butter pats
I might use these for something different at some other time but today they are in the bar
hotel shampoo and shower gels are pretty too
one of these is old one is made to look old

In my garage are all kinds of glass jars filled with sand and shells and sea glass and a wine cork or two from trips to the beach...just waiting for the right place to be displayed in the master bathroom.
Glass~Glass~Glass
never can have too much!

SABU

"God is Good Sabu" is a line from Out of Africa.   In a scene where her coffee farm has been totally lost in a fire, she says to a guest, "we may be all out of coffee, but I can offer you tea."

Often, my peep and I say this or text this to one another when we know God is Good..did you catch that I said "often"?

It's a very long story that begins with a house she wanted very badly and should not have purchased.  She will even say, "it's what I get for forcing the plan and making it happen".

She has been stranded with this house twice now.  A very expensive house that has given her the responsibility of two large mortgages all by herself.

Sadly, when it was first purchased it...it was all she wanted.  A home and a family.  She made it happen and it was a struggle to do so, but happen it did.

And then...she lost it.  But due to circumstances, she got it back again...when she could least afford it.

Within the week, it was rented, for the amount of the payment for 18 months (this May).
Two days ago, she was given notice that her renter was moving and now she would have it again.

I know she prayed.

And it is a very long story, but within the week, it is rented once again, for the amount and will hopefully include a sale in six months.

She texted me yesterday to tell me the good news and at the same time we texted each other
God is Good

I told hubby good things just seem to happen to her and here's why..

1.  She prays and she prays in her closet
2.  She believes even in her turmoil
3.  She gives...she left for a trip yesterday but made sure her church had pies for Ground Hog Day Supper before she left
4.  She cares for others...she is probably the most generous person I have ever known.  I imagine I have no idea all the things she does for others.  This she also does in her closet.
5.  She inspires and I believe has caused others to believe by her actions.  She is a missionary in her sphere.

I have her baby and while I was at her house getting things, I grabbed her Scrabble game for us to play.

I took out the easel and in my kitchen window spelled with the wooden tiles...

God is Good

(ps...Sabu means Ma'am)

IT MAKES SNOW DIFFERENCE

I used to dislike winter
and now I don't
so
shadow or no
makes snow difference to me

A BOY AND HIS DOG

Or in this case his turtles, his rocks, his bugs, his.....
Our Choctaw Tribe is the Turtle Clan

Turtle shells are very useful to the tribe and so are silver baby cups

more turtles and a yellow poppy from last summer's golf

When we first purchased 822 Charles said most people downsize when they are emptynesters.
Not us...in this house each one gets their very own room and bath..this is the entrance to his room upstairs

an oil painting of the old Bulls Inn

a large portrait of Grace and Charles and a carved St. Raphael welcome you

I was kind of going for an old English hunting lodge

Someday I hope there are doors and a balcony here but the alcove is nice

Inspiration to the theme is this oil painting done by B's great aunt Lil.  She was 13 when she painted it in 1909

I turned his Baboo's mink stole into some toss pillows...sometimes I regret this but I probably would have never worn the stole

The color choice came from this water color by Dord Fitz that we found at an auction

A dainty chandelier for Jena

A cross made from drift wood from the golf course

Embellished with Indian and Catholic charms

Rocks and butterflies

more rocks

and bugs

this old print kind of fits and offers a touch of humor

another boy and his dog

some women are addicted to chocolate...I am addicted to apothecary

A boy and his dog, and his turtles, and his rocks, and his bugs, and his wife on his birthday

with his very own room at 822 that is guarded by St. Michael

and a phone call to tell him about the day he was born  X 28
