OK...LET IT BE A QUEEN

So...we went to Oklahoma City to buy a bed and came home with a mirror

which is a good thing

because when we got to looking at the space between our sconces...well...

it caused me to get out the measuring tape

me to hubs:  there's not enough space to put our bed
hubs during football bowl week:  peeking over his glasses rims:  annoyed
me:  really...go look...go measure...there's not enough room

long story short
our contractor does know how big a king size mattress is
he just didn't think about that mattress being surrounded by a big fat fancy four poster bed

there is barely enough space for a QUEEN..without moving lots of stuff
stuff like sconces and electricity and plugs and holes in walls
so
Queen it is

don't let this happen to you...know your bed size
the mattress is only part of it!

This made me laugh a little;) First, we are huge football fans. Our daughter is an NFL cheerleader.. for the Seahawks so we are very nervous about tomorrows game. When the game goes on.. all husbands wouldn't know if a back of buffalo came through the house. Second, I can't tell you how many times I have NOT thought things through .. regarding drapes, blinds, etc.. and ended up with a big mistake.

You got a beautiful mirror though!

Love your mirror. Hate that you had to compromise. Play off weekend is never a good time for discussions!

That's a bummer - I am sure it will all look great in no time and you'll forget that you even wanted a king ;)

Ahhhh...I think MANY of us know this scenario too well! We have a four-poster bed that we brought with us from Boston. The day we moved into our sweet cottage and the men were taking our HUGE bed upstairs, IT WOULD NOT FIT THROUGH THE DOORWAY. I could not BEAR the thought of getting rid of this fabulous bed, so my husband put on his thinking cap, took off the frame of the door, and VOILÀ! The bed made it through and up the stairs. ADJUSTMENTS and yes, measuring and planning are necessary!

THANK YOU MY DEAR for coming to visit and with your kind comment. May 2013 be a year of living TWICE upon a time...in great ways! LOVE! Anita

Oh no, Gina. Hope you and Mr. PV haven't been sleeping in a king for a long time....you might find the Queen a little crowded.

Such a small thing - placing the sconces far enough apart. But such a big thing to have to make them move it. Hope you found the perfect solution with a queen frame that you love.

Hello Gina:
Sometimes, one just has to make major adjustments to fit in with one's dream ideas. We have known doors taken off and furniture hoisted through upstairs windows in order that the 'decorating dream' could come true!!! What fun it all is.

That's to bad about your bed....shoot!
I think I would move the sconce's onto another wall so you could have your king....boy, it would be hard to sleep in a queen after being in a king...It might not cost that much to move the sconces....

I'm not sure I would've given in so easily! I could never go from my king to a queen…at least not happily! Your mirror is gorgeous and I'm sure it will all end well! Have a great Sunday!

That's an ouch in the interior design world! Are you sure you can't tie the sconces together with a piece of architectural detailing so they make sense being placed inside the posters of the bed? Kind of like illuminated art over the bed.

oh no! On the other hand, Queen beds to me are more intimate :)

Uh oh! This isn't good! (I don't think I could go from a king to a queen at this stage, with my husband snoring!)
It's gonna be cozy!
Love the mirror! ~Delores
