Wes Studi is a native Oklahoman, Vietnam veteran, sculptor, musician,
author,activist
and full-blood Cherokee.
He is best known for his roles in
“Dances With Wolves,” “The Last of the Mohicans,” and James Cameron’s
“Avatar.”
Studi was born
in Nofire Hollow, Oklahoma in 1946 as the eldest son of a ranch hand. He spoke only
Cherokee until he was five years old, when he was sent to Chilocco Indian School
in Northern Oklahoma, where he remained until high school graduation
so...why you ask...
"do I care?"
well, if you don't mind a bit of a brag, I'll continue....
we will be attending this wonderful event that will also include
our very own newest member of our clan
Rex
who will have the honor of
introducing Mr. Studi
Even though Rex was born and raised right here, he also has ties to the great state of Oklahoma where he continued his education after leaving here. His family is very involved with the museum and so he will have this great honor...as will we...as his tag-alongs!
For the first time in quite a long time
I'm kind of caring about my outfit!
(which will include vintage cowboy boots for darn tootin' sure!)
blue?
or green?
It makes me so proud to be part of a tribe

Have fun!
I am so excited for you! Though I luuuvvvv the green - the blue I think goes great!
Did I say I am exicted? I am so excited!
How fun and exciting! What a wonderful heritage! Have a grand time - both the blue and the green are lovely.
This sounds fun...wear green! Are those cicadas?
I have Cherokee blood on my mamaw's side. Very cool that you get to meet Wes Studi. Have fun!
This is way too cool! It's so exciting that you get to be part of it all. I'm always happy to hear of someone who survived the residential school system and went on to achieve great things. The green is grabbing me but that just may be because it's so different. I'm sure you'll look hot in your boots and the jewellery will just be the icing on the cake!
Sounds like an amazing event!! As for your outfit, blue. I love the turquoise with silver.
Have a great time.
I vote blue! How exciting, and what an honor. I'd love to tag-a-long, too!
Have a great time.
Hugs,
Patti
Go Gina! Love that you have ties to Am Indian! You are just soooo interesting! Love your stories.
