This is the book I read to my children
this is the one I wish I could find
Our kids are spread out...Grace is almost 10 years older than Mattie with Charles in between
so their book looks almost as tattered as this one
MARKET
To market, to market, to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, jiggety-jig;
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog;
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog;
Somehow...this is the rhyme that has lasted over the years....
...because when we all travel to and from one another's houses
or on other more distant trips here and yonder,
it might not surprise you to find
a safe arrival home...
includes a modern day text
that will simply say
jiggity jig
I so hope summer vacation plans for you and those you love, will meet all your expectations
and get you where you want to go...
but most of all...
back at home
safe and sound!

I read the same book to my children...this was a sweet post!
I love mother goose! I have the book my mother used to read to me and it wasn't new even then. It is falling apart but what a treasure!

Sweet! I just picked up a vintage copy of Peter Rabbit. This was the first book we read to my daughter (her father bought it while we were still in the hospital). I'm holding on to it to give to her when she (finally) has a child - hopefully in the next year or so.
Gina with my children grown, I remember all too well the love of reading to them and these classics were always the best!

Gina,
Nice post, I have many vintage/old children's books and I find the illustrations endearing. I'm a big gift giver of the children's plush with a book. Want smart kids, read to them is what I think.
Xo,
Vera

YOU KNOW WHAT?

Tealyn loves it, BUT I have a few books I like to read her... I am still old school
What a sweet post, Gina. :)
Your post makes me smile, Gina. Mother Goose is a favorite for me too.
Thanks for this endearing post.
Takes me back to the time when my Mom would READ to my brother and I. I haven't read much to my son as I was busy working, good thing that my Mom was there with us to do it. My son turned out to be a bookworm like me, double thanks to my Mom.
I love the illustrations!
