AUTUMN DUSK

 I adore the holidays
*ALL HOLIDAYS*

and as one unfolds into the next
sometimes I just like to take a moment to pause and enjoy
...lingering in the moment...

FALL
to me represents such a dramatic change
school
shorter chilly days
texture
color
first Halloween and then
THANKSGIVING
(I have so much fun with my scrabble game)

I splurged on these from Horchow nearly 25 years ago
back then...whatever I spent...was a splurge

but as I take this sweet couple out year after year

and refill the basket

they remind me of such wonderful memories
and they have even been on my travels if need be...here they are at a family trip to Taos one Thanksgiving

I am not sure I don't like Thanksgiving more than Christmas

Really?

perhaps just a little sentimental today

as we gather the last of the vegetables

from the garden

and get out all the fall-ish

decorations
inside
and outside

and set the table for friends and family

it's no secret

fall is in full swing

but I will enjoy just a few more Indian Summer days

where the flowers still bloom among the pumpkins

and the green leftover from summer
procrastinates with me

we gather together
to build the fires on the hearth
and prepare

for the wonderful things that are just around the corner

warmth

and the possibilities of
a whole brand new fresh wonderful year full of promise

just like the last one

What a beautiful post!! You're making me feel guilty that today I was complaining about the snow on the ground. I'm not ready for winter, but your post is making me feel a bit more optimistic!!

Love your pilgrim people.

Beautifully written Gina. I often think fall is over far too quickly for me. I always love seeing pictures of the wonderful home you have created around you It has such a warm embrace to it that comes through the photographs you share.

Thanksgiving is definitely my favourite holiday. Here in Canada, we celebrate it in October so there's still lots of autumn afterwards. Right now, I'm getting my head thinking about Christmas - but it's more work, more structure, more traditions and I don't enjoy it quite as much.

Love those beautiful decorations.

I usually don't like the fall however all your pictures sure makes it pretty.
Now I love Thanksgiving it always has special memories of back when I was a child at my grandparents house

Oh Gina,

Your home truly has a certain magic to it with its nooks and crannies, the stone and leaded windows. I can just imagine you having the time of your life in this home! LOVE THE DÉCOR! Anita
