WINDOWS

YIKES!!!
I cannot even believe this is our house!

As we near the end of our "planned" renovation
I walked through the house this morning as I often do
to just
BE GRATEFUL
for getting to live
in such a wonderful home

do you agree that windows are the soul of the home?
I would imagine that these storm windows were the bombdiggity at the time they were installed
but
can we say
REPLACE???

as we set about to renovate 822 we replaced
EVERY SINGLE WINDOW
big expense?  not really...we didn't replace the windows with windows but with
glass...windows are expensive but glass is cheap!

We splurged in a few areas
like the beveled diamond panes
in the front and in the turret

for a grand illusion!
inside the turret
inside the living room

and I just love stain glass...so it was a for sure
but you know?  I bought these both for
$75!!!

there were 2 strange doors but rather than take out the cool wedding cake porches
we just put windows in..they are really my favorite!
these came from Ebay
my intentions were to take a stain glass class and make them
maybe someday..
...but this works for now
what I love about old houses?  the cute stuff that no one thinks about anymore

speaking of garage sales
I adore old windows
these will be the little windows that go in the new addition of our
"fancy lawnmower shed"
they will be put between glass and built in to protect them
seriously...I'm not exaggerating...I do have the exact figures stored away somewhere,
but I think $150 covered this window
it's no wonder I love to do the supper dishes in the morning!

This looks out into the backyard
we've come a looooong way!
it's a wonder I get any work done on my newspapers looking out this window!

do you have a favorite window in your house?
it's hard for me to choose, but I love this one in our guest bathroom
it's surrounded by ivy
and has the most pleasant view!
the glass block was here
we just built a shower around it!

this little window was here too...we just made it better

there are lots more windows in this old house
but that's kind of the tour...you're probably bored right now

me?  I will never get bored with the windows at 822
they are probably the one thing that make me still say
wow!

I love windows and it is fascinating to see what you have done! I love the curved ones and especially how you've used the stained glass! Wonderful!

I couldn't agree more! Good windows just make a house, and a house can't be beautiful without them. Hey! I'm a Texas Panhandle blogger, too! New follower.

Yes I agree that windows are the soul of a home - much like eyes are the window to the soul. Windows are a house's eyes...

Your windows are so beautiful and have so much personality! I love our sunroom windows the best.
Can't believe you just used glass..was it extra thick or particularly special glass? double paned? brilliant idea.
duh!

Good grief, I can't believe you and Revi haven't come across one another yet!
Thanks for the window tour of your beautiful house...I'm not usually a lover of stained glass but I love the colors in yours in the cheetah chair room and it's gorgeous with the light coming thru! I have a cheetah chair room, too- that's why I dubbed yours with that name. ;)

I confess I am wildly jealous of your leaded glass windows. What a huge difference between your before and after pics with just windows changed!

Gina, your home is MAGICAL. The leaded windows....we have them too, but your turret, and each nook and corner of your house is lovely. I must send you a picture of the stone shower my husband built us; we too have the block window in the 5 X 3 walk-in and it is a delight. HAPPY DAY! Anita

Even the windows in your home aren't ordinary!! Amazing!

Miss Gina I agree with Anita that turret is blooming goyjus! We have very large bay windows here at Magical Manor and it always feels like a treat throwing the curtain open every morning to let the light flood in and illuminate the interior.
Hope alls well and that you are set for Autumn. Looking forward to seeing your Halloween arrangements.
