GARDEN GATE

with Alison at the Polohouse

are you like me and thinking we need a new gate?
well...this is the weekend!!!
(yay!!!)
the fence is done and we are now waiting on cute carpenter man to design our gate
he is worth the wait!

this is how the gate looked when we bought 822 that leads into the backyard
so charming

(I was a BIG to my LITTLE Katy --Big Brothers Big Sisters-- when she was in Kindergarten-3
she took her senior pictures this year at our front door)
I would love to include some kind of iron work on our back gate to carry out the look
we talked about a speakeasy..but do you want to open your little bitty door to the alley?
and say
"hi you people in the alley...how's the trash dumpster look today?"

lovely examples all over pinterest nation!
but no such place to get iron done around here...all the welders are busy on
the oil rigs
(yay!!!)
if I lived in a horse house like Alison!
would this not work???

or a fantasy zen garden like Loi..yes please

no
we've lived in a construction zone
for 3 years
where step by step

we've made some spectacular progress
although it seemed not many many weeks!

finally....we are down to the gate!

I'm thinking something along these lines

we shall
as they say
see

I'll keep you posted!

I so love your home and the work you've put into it! We've been in our home for 18 years now, and we finally have it the way we want. The only thing left to do is to have exposed beams installed and we're set! Dear heart, thank you for coming to visit with such kind words! Music, art and poetry...that's what I love.

HAVE FUN and everything is so gorgeous! Anita

I love those old iron gates too, Gina. But I think the stately shape of the wood gate you've chosen suits your home (which I think of as a chateau).

3 years? Wow! You are a trooper!! But look at all that progress: beautiful! Thanks for the shout out :) My garden is far from zen at the moment. Needs a whole lot of whacking back!

I can't wait to see the final design that you and the carpenter man decide upon. I love your inspiration pic. Hooray for the fence being completed, too!

Hi Gina!

Your front door is amazing, and your daughter is beautiful too!
You've made so much progress I can see and yes, I would love that split Dutch door. We had one in our kitchen growing up, but they are much better in a garden. We learned the hard way that they let the flies in when it is your kitchen door!

Cannot wait to see how it all turns out. Keep us posted!

You guys have created the most amazing home and gardens...it's been a joy to watch (even through your worst construction experiences). Your new gate will be just as PERFECT as everything else y'all have done.
