One of my favorite artists is
Gustav Klimt
so it stands to reason that the first artist we study this year
is him.
My sweet little students are such fun and bring such inspiration
I felt
The Kiss was too kissy for their young souls
so our first effort will be
The Tree of Life
I only guide them a bit
because I adore
how naive
and fresh
their creations can be with their own little chubby hands
and gift of seeing what they see
expression
imagination
so much lack of complication
very much like how Gustav must have began as a child
I told them last week...
I wonder if Gustav Klimt is looking down on us from above
watching us paint his masterpieces with a huge smile on his face
and then we talked about Duck Dynasty

He's a very interesting artist and there is far more to his work than initially meets the eye, but definitely not a subject for young students.
I love their interpretations, what a fun teacher you must be.
I love their trees! They make a wonderful collection. It sounds like you are very, very good teacher. They must be learning so much, and their parents must be so proud of their work.
Their work is wonderful. Perhaps we are seeing the first efforts of one of the great artists of tomorrow!

I think I remember reading Klimt has another painting underneath The Kiss? I always thought that was interesting. Such lovely trees from your students! xoL
