WINTER BLOOMS

I actually really do like the winter
but it helps to have life and prettiness
makes it nice to be indoors while the snow flies

I always bring in my plants from the yard to give them a try through the winter

for Christmas this year my sister filled this with bird ornaments which I put on my tree
then I got some other old jars and made terrariums for my kitchen window

don't you love these tiny little plants?
they are their own small rain forest
tuck away something sweet like this little bird
or a cute little rabbit
the myrtles are hanging in there...they like the porch better

poinsettia on the stairs that I rescued it from the grocery store...3 years ago!
it has really grown but never turned red again

palms always give a grand happy lift to any area

I love orchids
usually I just buy them in full bloom, but this one actually is blooming again
for a very informative post on orchids please visit my friend

are you happy yet?
my all time favorite is the
Hyacinth!
I don't always have luck forcing these bulbs

this year I added a wee bit of Epsom Salt to the water

and that seemed to work
~sigh~

makes a person feel like spring is just a blossom away
and oh the fragrance!

Your plants all look healthy and happy and I love hyacinth.
It smells better that any other flower.

Happy New Year!

You have the greenest thumb of anyone I know, and in our semi-arid climate, that's a pretty big deal! Love your idea of the lidded apothecary terrariums! Thanks for joining the first Thrifty Life Thursday. :)

Gina, I'm with you! I must have a few plants inside for the winter. I had no idea that a poinsettia wouldn't turn red, but I have to say that I love the bright green even better!

Live greenery is just what's missing from my house in the winter months. You've got quite a green thumb!

Visiting from Revi's.

I'm very envious of you right now. The kittens have played havoc on any indoors plants this winter. Maybe, I could try the terrarium route. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for the shout-out about the orchid posting!!

My few houseplants pale in comparison to yours, my friend. I'm also forcing a couple of hyacinths without much success. They've been trying to bloom with a couple little florets peaking out, but no big show. But my narcicuss are growing by the second. Should have blooms in a couple of weeks.
Your plants make winter seem just a little less dull.

How lovely Gina, and I like the use of the silver tray for your bulbs! You always arrange your home in such a special way. I hope you are all warm and not suffering through any cold...we really were hit by that VORTEX and now it's hitting our friends on the east coast. Stay healthy and WONDERFUL! Anita

Nothing like beautiful blooms to brighten a cold Winter day. My Paperwhites and Amaryllis just finished putting on their show. I need to get some hyacinths! Yours look lovely on the silver tray! Hopped over from Revi's new party. Now following.

I so agree and you clearly have a green thumb. My don't look quite this health, but I love having flowers and plants year round!
