MyORC--MASTER SUITE

In the beginning of the reno of 822
the plans of a master suite had several options to consider
the garage

apartment...
was not one of them
BUT...and this was a big BUT--
here and there...the post office, the grocery store, the hardware store... folks would say to us

"I spent my honeymoon in that old apartment out back"
"That was our first home when we got married years ago"
"We lived there for a couple of years before we finally found a house to live in"

in our minds, all we could really do that made any sense at all,

was bring in the bulldozer

instead....we did this about 6 times

suddenly when all the dump trucks were loaded and the debris was nearly gone...
the space began to make some sense

the structure was wonderful hiding above all that asbestos tile

and believe it or not, the foundation was not a big issue, however we did stabilize it

this wood will be used for many other projects

let the master suite begin!

tub before the horse....sitting on our front drive on the Been's wedding day!
reno always takes longer than planned...right?

Are you ready for today?

~~Inspiration~~
the sweetest words ever spoken about the love that was made and shared within these wall

~We~
  • drank a lot of wine
  • breathed in a lot of harmful stuff, asbestos being only a small part of it
  • talked each other into and out of it more than once
  • carried a paint chip of Sea Salt around for what seems like ever
  • waited months on marble
  • never, never, no not ever...did we give up!

the old kitchen sink becomes the tub area

the walk in shower takes shape

the old living area becomes the master closet

Sea Salt

boxes and boxes of rock

the outside is also taking shape

in these two photos you can see where we added the library, atrium and art loft
to connect to the house

~Biggest Challenge~
not giving up

~Favorite Thing~
During this reno we have had 3 weddings, 1 baby, and now a baby on the way

every single reno deserves to have an angel bending near it whispering...

grow
GROW
GROW

(someone here will have a new baby brother in the late spring)

Gina, I am speechless. You house seems to never, ever end!!!!!!! It takes not only vision but COURAGE and what we say in Spanish: GANAS. The will to keep bulldozing ahead in the middle of all the dust of doubt. What a huge difference this place has experienced, and I must say that I am in love with the elegance of your white and gray, the sconces, and those arched doorways (like in our home!)

You and the mister really have put a lot of muscle and love into this place for the generations following you, and for yourselves. LOVE THIS! Much love to you too, Gina! Anita
