PARIS 2008

When we left Paris so very sad on September 15, 2001, we thought we probably would never return

However, Brian's aunt and uncle were missionaries in Germany.  He was born in  Frankfurt so we planned a trip to visit them and the place of his birth.

We stayed 10 days, rented a little car and drove all through the land
Germany, France and Switzerland
my favorite way to travel

I found these photos in Mattie's album..at the time I had only a "real" camera
not a digital one...so our photos will all need to be scanned someday..what a chore!

We were there in early March...
we froze on the Eiffel Tower and in the castles...it was so cold

but stunningly beautiful

Mattie and her friends at prom...she is 5th from the left
We tease and say she flew to Paris to purchase her prom dress
(it was $109 dollars)

We were able to see the storks in the Alsace region
and my favorite story of all

We were in the Picasso Museum in Lucerne...3 stories...we were all spread out when the shrill alarms
sounded through the entire place and
WOULD NOT STOP
it was deafening
Mattie found me on the 3rd floor, came up to me and whispered in my ear
"I did that"
it seems there was a picture that needed "straightening" so she did
and set off the alarm
The police came, they had to do a report, interview her
I made her go to the desk and confess and apologize...alone, I was so embarrassed
but it seems she didn't mind at all as the security guard was
"pretty cute"

They probably facebook
my memories of Paris are not quite as romantic as some and surely not the dreams I had of being there
but I love my memories and I love France

My dad's twin brother is buried there (WWII) and maybe one more time
I will go
and bring his young body home

That's a good story... imagine setting off an alarm! Perhaps your next visit will be in beautiful weather and no alarms!

Good morning! SO glad I finally made it over for a visit--you've been so kind in your visits to me & I so appreciate your kind comments...

Wow! What a story! She must have been terrified when those alarms went off--I don't know WHAT I would have done!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

oh dear, although the alarm thing must have been scary at the time it's one of those tales that become funny in retrospect and will amuse your grandchildren.

I love the story of your friend straightening a picture in the gallery :-) I did the same with a section of tapestry once in a museum. I wanted to see how neat the stitching was at the back and the minuted I lifted the corner, all hell let loose!!! I was so mortified when all the guards came running towards me, shouted some obscenities in French and then left. oh dear!!!
Great post and great to meet you.
